Day 6: Meh

The best word to describe today, is 'meh'. My mom laughs when I use that word. The sun was not out today. Nothing went bad, but nothing was amazing. We just paddled along.

As we left our lean-to site, we had a quick portage around a bridge where a town fire drill of sorts was being performed. We paddled until Permanent Rapids on the Saranac and took out to walk around the rapids. I remembered paddling these as an intern with NFCT, but with our loaded boat, we did not want to take the chance. We walked the road down to a campsite (where we stayed as interns) and put back in. It’s constantly strange for me to be back in these places that I never truly expected to see again. This led into a lake with a carry around a dam and into another lake. We battled the wind across the second lake. Now, we are at the end of the lake, just before another dam. It was still early in the day, but rather than forge ahead into 8.9 miles of walking, or rapids and then 4.9 miles of walking, we decided to leave that until tomorrow. We hope to make it to Plattsburgh in two days. We must decide if we are going to run Trail Rapids or walk the entire way. I would rather walk, but we must make a joint decision that we are both happy with.
