Day 11: Back on Trail

Pete dropped us off early and we were on the water in Clayburg by 7:00am. The weather was much like the day we had gone "swimming" and it did not ease my nerves as we headed back out. The plan was to take it easy and get to Baker’s Acres to camp.

We navigated through some first class sections fine. The water was so shallow that it was difficult to get a paddle in deep enough to direct the boat. We lined a few sections. Before Separator Rapids, we took out on a steep slope to make the portage. It was hard to find the correct take out for this so we bush whacked.

Around a dam later and back in the water (soaked by rain) we took out at Pickett Corners Rec Park and walked to the nearby convenience store where we enjoyed some creature comforts and hot deli food. Then we walked to Baker’s Acres and paid $30 for an unfortunate campsite and little shelter besides out tent. We hung out there, out of the rain, and chatted, napped, etc. before heading back to the same store for dinner. It was a short day, but much needed as we began the trip again.
